YOUTH
FUNDING YOUTH IDEAS
YFYI is a youth-led program that
seeks to foster young San Franciscans with the
opportunity to expand on their leadership goals
by funding their project ideas. Y.F.Y.I. gives up to $10,000 in grant money to youth in San Francisco to start their own youth-led project. |

As a youth-led grant-making program youth are employed as program officers and evaluators. Youth are responsible for making all grant decisions, they provide support and assistance to youth people applying for grants, evaluate projects, and collect data about projects and participants. Youth receive extensive and ongoing training to enhance their ability to make funding decisions and support youth who seek grants.

CHALK
OUTREACH
On average, CHALK conducts 90 hours of outreach a week throughout San Francisco. Outreach is delivered through youth-led public speaking, school and street oureach, CHALK Centers and a 'zine called "Street Elements". CHALK's Outreach program goals include promotion of CHALK's programs and services, providing information and referrals to youth in the community and in schools, and building relationships with other youth organizations. CHALK has been noted for the exceptional work being done with the high-risk population. Over the years, strategies have been created in positively affecting and working with young people with high risk characteristics. CHALK staff now faciliates such workshops for agency staff, as well as workshops for youth who want high quality employment and leadership training. Our training as led to one of our newest initiatives CHALK Centers.
CHALK Centers are conducted in public schools,
in partnership with school staff and/or service providers.
Services include training and resource referral for students
and are conducted once a week for two hours. CHALK Centers
aim to increase the access youth have to resources, opportunities,
and support.

Street Elements : Youth at CHALK
are serving their community in a unique and exciting
way - through WORDS! Youth are writing articles,
sharing stories, poems and art as part of a quarterly
released 'zine called "Street Elements".
The idea behind this program is to provide youth
with an outlet to share their stories, and thoughts,
while other youth who receive the 'zine look at
and read the 'zine with a sense of "I'm not
alone cause other youth go through this too."
Our 'zine also has resources and program information
listed for each youth topic addressed.

Elements website.
