Thanks Kimball Foundation! Employee of the Month

CHALK receives $25,000 from Kimball Foundation!

Coming Soon

Look out for the relaunch of our CHALK and Youth Funding Youth ideas (YFYI) website with a lot more information and features! Watch out for it in mid August.

Please join me in congratulating Corey as July 2007 employee of the month!

Corey is an excellent outreach worker, builds relationships in the community, actively works toward maintaining a positive street reputation and is extremely dependable. At 17 years old, Corey is a program developer. He, along with 2 other youth staff, created a model advocacy and mentor program for in-risk youth ages 14-24. Corey helps CHALK fundraise, plan and grow. And finally, one of the best things about Corey is his sense of humor! He’s hilarious!

Congratulations to New Hires

Congratulations to all our New Hires for making it through! CHALK has hired 37 youths in our three programs: 13 youths in Outreach, 6 youths in Youthline, and 18 youths in Youth Funding Youth Ideas.

Featured Project

DREAM CITY MUSIC

One of our freshly funded projects this cycle is known as Dream City Music. Dream City Music is consists of main youth leaders Joe Talbot and Jeremy Singletary, Adult Ally Theo Ellington, and dozens of youth who aspire to record their own songs, make their own CDs and duplicate them. Dream City Music gives individuals the ability to gain the skills and knowledge of how to start and successfully administer a business. Their goal is to be a music company that allows artists to compose and dispense music to any particular audience, using all possible resources, but not limit the artist to a certain style. One of the many things that Dream City Music will be doing this year is going to Non-Profits and setting up studios for a day. The youth of the non-profits will get the
opportunity to record a single, have it produced and duplicated by DCM producers at NO EXPENSE to the youth. In addition the youth will get copies of their single to sell for their own profit. The great thing about DCM, however is that they allow people who aren't part of profits to record their own singles and learn to administer a business as well. The only catch however is, that the artists would have to complete a set amount of volunteer hours in exchange for to get to participate in the "Studio For a Day" campaign.
